Steam cleaner: what exactly can be cleaned with it

Steam cleaner

Steam cleaner

What is a steam cleaner for? This is clear from its name, but not everyone realizes how useful it can be.

Many people know what a steam cleaner is. But what exactly it can clean is far from everything. In fact, this is a truly universal device that will find application in any apartment or private house. Let’s see what you can do with it.

How does he work?

Yes, very simple. The heating element turns water into steam, and it is already fed through various nozzles to the place of pollution. Since the steam has a high temperature, this treatment allows not only to clean the surfaces, but also to disinfect them. Moreover, without any aggressive chemistry, this is a great advantage.

By the way, we have our own rating of steam cleaners : in it we have collected models of different classes. So, what can such devices be used for? We are recommended to read more about Dry Steam vs Wet Steam cleaners before making an order.

Floor washing

One of the most popular scenarios is floor cleaning. The steam cleaner easily cleans any dirt from surfaces that are resistant to moisture and heat. As a rule, these are tiles and linoleum. It is more difficult with parquet and laminate: they are easy to damage. So you need to clarify in the documentation for the steam cleaner whether cleaning of such coatings is allowed.

For cleaning upholstered furniture

If an ordinary vacuum cleaner copes with dust, then nothing can be done about stains or greasy upholstery. The steam cleaner is the opposite. Therefore, ideally both devices are needed to care for furniture.

First, carefully vacuum the sofa or chair, then steam it. By the way, this way it is possible to get rid of dust mites in the surface layer of the sealant (and there they are most of all).

For kitchen

Cleaning the kitchen takes a lot of time and effort. We mean hobs, ovens, and kitchen hoods. Fat is collected directly here, which is quite difficult to remove. You need to steam the surfaces and remove the soaked dirt with a sponge or cloth.

For this, a special narrow nozzle-brush is suitable, penetrating into the most inaccessible places. A solution is preliminarily prepared, which consists of water and a detergent composition. During processing, the nozzle is periodically wetted, after which the softened dirt is collected with a soft cloth. It is optimal to use hand-held steam cleaners with a power of 1 kW or more.

For bathroom

You can also remove rust, limescale and fungus between the seams in the bathroom using a steam cleaner. For this, cone nozzles with a brush at the end are suitable. Brushes can be with hard or soft bristles: the former are suitable for advanced cases, the latter for regular cleaning. We tried to clean the seams between the tiles and filmed it.

For plumbing

What else does a steam cleaner do? For example, plumbing. To do this, you can use a steam cleaner, which removes rust without the use of aggressive chemicals. The advantage will be that in parallel the device ensures proper processing of plumbing, eliminating pathogenic microflora.

For this, hand or floor steam cleaners are suitable. It is necessary to walk through the plumbing with a narrow nozzle-nozzle, and then wash off the condensate with water.

For auto

The car has almost the entire range of surfaces that a steam cleaner can help with. These are windows, and soft upholstery of chairs, and plastic surfaces, and carpets …

The only question is if you, where to connect the device. There are models that work from the cigarette lighter, but they are low-powered and not particularly effective. So it is better to take a full-fledged manual cleaner so that you can get to the most difficult surfaces.

For the care of house plants

What else can be cleaned with a steam cleaner? You will be surprised, but the leaves of plants. They often collect dust. And since it is not a glossy surface, it is quite difficult to remove it. But you can, if you pre-soften it with steam.

We need to act carefully, from a distance of 30 centimeters. In this case, we do not need strong pressure or active influence. If these are large leaves, after steaming, you can wipe them with a napkin. With small ones, they usually do not stand on ceremony, and moisten until the drops themselves wash off the dust. A similar effect can be achieved with a spray gun, but a jet of steam works better.
