Are you looking for a great monthly mobile phone deal, but don’t want to buy a new phone or go on Pay as You Go? SIM Only deals are here to solve your problem – and BT Mobile have a great range of tariffs available, whether you’re already a BT customer or not!

About BT Mobile

BT Mobile is a mobile phone network in the UK owned by BT. It is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and runs off the Everything Everywhere (EE) network. Due to the MVNO agreement that BT Mobile signed with EE in 2014, EE began offering 4G services for businesses in August 2014. In February 2015, BT Group announced plans to purchase EE for £12.5 billion, which is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be decided in March 2016. Currently, BT Mobile offers a range of pay monthly, SIM only and pay and go deals with 4G data speeds.

What’s Good About Them?

BT Mobile’s mission is to provide customers with 4G contracts at the cheapest prices in the UK. It predominantly offers SIM only contracts, although there are also a range of budget phone handsets available.

If you’re an existing BT customer with a home phone, home broadband or BT TV package, you’re eligible for a £5 per month discount on any contract that you choose to take out from BT Mobile. If you’re not already a current BT customer, you’re given the option to sign up to BT home phone, broadband and TV when you buy your BT Mobile contract.

BT Mobile customers also get to enjoy free unlimited Wi-Fi access at thousands of BT Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, found in many café’s, restaurants, bars and high street shopping stores. These Wi-Fi hotspots come at a fee for non-BT customers, but if you’ve got BT Mobile or BT home broadband you get to use them for free.

Although all of BT Mobile’s deals are 12 month contracts or longer, BT Mobile offer their customers the option to upgrade their contract at any time without being charged a penalty fee. However, you’re only able to downgrade to a cheaper deal once without being charged. BT send their users usage alerts, and will recommend a more suitable plan based on your usage if they think you might be better off upgrading.

One downfall of BT Mobile is that they don’t offer tethering, so you won’t be able to get a large data package and use it to connect all your other devices. However, if you’re not bothered about tethering there are many other positives to make up for it.

How Good Is BT Mobile Network Coverage?

Since BT Mobile piggy back off the EE network, their coverage reaches 99% of the population for 3G and around 80% of the population for 4G, which EE plans to roll out to reach even more areas in the UK. However, even though BT use EE you won’t be able to get access to double speed 4G, but you’ll get speeds of up to 30Mbit/s. Speeds will vary depending on your location and the handset that you’re using. If you don’t have a 4G enabled handset, you’ll be restricted to using 3G speeds – but you will get 99% coverage.

If you’re thinking of using BT Mobile and want to check how good your coverage will be, you can use the handy coverage checker tool on either the BT Mobile or EE websites where you can enter your postcode to see if you’ll get coverage in your area and whether or not your location has 4G coverage or not.

Do BT Mobile Offer SIM Only Deals?

BT Mobile predominantly offers SIM only deals and aims to be the network that provides the cheapest 4G SIM only contracts in the UK. There are only a few deals available, but prices range from £10 to £25, with an extra £5 per month discount if you’re currently a BT customer.

For just £25 a month – or £20 a month if you’re currently a BT customer, you’ll be able to bag an amazing deal that gives you unlimited minutes and texts with a whopping 25GB of data. There are also end and mid-range deals available for those who don’t need as many minutes or as much mobile data.

If you’re thinking of switching to BT mobile from another mobile network provider, you’ll need to make sure that the handset you’re planning to use with a BT Mobile SIM is unlocked. You might be able to use a newer EE handset on BT Mobile, however this isn’t always the case. If you’re not sure whether or not your mobile handset is unlocked you can find out by contacting your current provider, who will be able to unlock the phone for you – although some providers do charge a fee for this service depending on how long you’ve been a customer.

For those wishing to keep their current phone number, all you will need to do is obtain a PAC code by ringing the customer services of your current network, and pass this PAC code onto BT Mobile who’ll be able to port your number over.

Why Choose BT Mobile?

BT Mobile gives you the power to control what you spend – many other networks don’t offer the option to put a cap or a limit on your usage, meaning that if you run out of minutes, texts or data you’ll be charged more for using your phone. With BT you can limit this and choose where you’d like to stop to ensure that you never pay any more than you can afford per month. This is a great option if you’re tired of always paying more than you expected, and it’s also brilliant for parents – after all, you can’t keep an eye on what your child’s doing 100% of the time, and it’s pretty common for kids to run up massive mobile bills. Not only that, but you’ll also get access to free BT Sport with the BT Sport Lite app. If you’re already a broadband home customer you’re in luck – you’ll get an extra £5 discount on all the deals they offer!

BT Mobile 500MB Plan

Although 500MB isn’t enough data for some, if you’re looking for a cheaply priced plan with all the basics included, you can get 200 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500MB of 4G mobile data for just £10 per month. Don’t let the amount of data put you off however, as remember you’ll get unlimited BT Wi-Fi access, which means you’ll only need to use your data when there’s no Wi-Fi around. It’s a 12 month contract, and you’ll also get free access to the BT Sport Lite app, as well as a £50 discount on selected BT Shop mobile phones if you’re thinking of buying a new handset. If you sign up for BT broadband as well you’ll get the deal for half the price – so if you’re thinking of changing your broadband provider, you’ve now got a brilliant reason to switch.

BT Mobile 2GB Plan

Even with the unlimited BT Wi-Fi access, some of us simply need a little bit more mobile data. And if 500GB just doesn’t seem like enough to you, pay just £17 per month for 12 months to get 500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 2GB of 4G data. You’ll still have access to unlimited BT Wi-Fi, a £50 discount on selected handsets from the BT Shop, and free access to the BT Sport Lite app. As with all plans you’ll also get free calls to 0800 numbers, and don’t forget you can put a cap on your spend – so you never need to worry about going over your minutes or data. Remember, if you sign up to BT broadband you’ll also get a brilliant £5 per month discount – meaning you’ll get all that for just £12 per month!

BT Mobile 20GB Plan

Always on your phone? Do you constantly use the internet on your phone, whether it’s for messaging, video calling, listening to music, browsing, using social media, playing games, or navigation? Do you not fancy the idea of relying on Wi-Fi most of the time, and need a large amount of data to ensure you’re always connected wherever you are? Well, with the BT Mobile 20GB plan, you’ll get unlimited minutes and texts and a whopping 20GB of 4G mobile data – browse to your hearts content! It’s a 12 month contract and the best bit is that it’s only £25 – yes £25 per month! Join BT as a broadband customer, and you’ll get this amazing deal for just £20 per month – what a bargain! If you’re thinking of buying a new phone to go with your brand new tariff, you’ll also be able to take advantage of a £50 discount on selected handsets from the BT Mobile Shop – now that’s what we call a bargain! Don’t forget that you can also cap your usage so you don’t overspend – not that we think you’d need to will all that!
